Prospect Farm has been in ownership of the de Wet family since 1870. Owned and managed today by 5th. generation de Wet brothers, Nic and Chris, quality wines are being produced for the South African as well as North American markets.

Although the 2100 acre farm is categorized as a mixed farming venture growing many varieties of fruit, the vineyards occupy the largest single crop development. 340 acres of perfectly manicured rows produce in excess of 2000 tons of grapes per vintage.

The wines are marketed under the flagship label of Prospect1870 as well as the newly released Leatherwood range. Red Wines produced for the Prospect and Leatherwood labels include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Pinotage. White Wines produced are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc [Steen] and Colombar. Expansive planting of Viognier is currently in progress.
